From leg baring sheer gowns, to sensational dresses with flowing trains, 2012 have given us a plethora of color, embroidery, sequins and lace. The red carpet was filled with celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lawrence topping best dressed lists everywhere and sent fashion editors rushing to snatch up these gowns for future trend pieces in their fashion spreads. Look of the Day~ Nina Dobrev in Elie Saab

Nina attended the 2012 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala in Cannes wearing this shimmering, off-the-shoulder, cobalt blue, Elie Saab gown featuring a daring thigh-high slit.

The Vampire Diaries star added strappy, silver, Jimmy Choo heels, dazzling Bulgari jewelry and a Salvatore Ferragamo roll clutch to complete her elegant look.

Actress Diane Kruger wore this breathtaking, mint green, single-shoulder, Giambattista Valli Haute Couture flowing gown for the opening ceremony of the Cannes film festival.  Actress Jessica Chastain floated down the red carpet at Cannes for the premiere of Lawless in this stunning, ivory, Giorgio Armani strapless gown.  Actress Lea Michele attended the Fox Upfront 2012 event presentation in New York City wearing this sensational, sleeveless, blush, Emilio Pucci lace sheath dress.  Actress Rachel Bilson attended the CW Upfronts event in New York City wearing this beautiful, ivory, Chanel ruffled cocktail dress.

 

Actress Charlize Theron was a vision in this black, Dior Haute Couture sheer gown. She added a satin clutch and Solange Azagury-Patridge jewels for the London premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman. Actress Freida Pinto made a splash on the Cannes red carpet in this beautiful, strapless, Michael Angel dress with a draped skirt and embellished, multicolored bodice. Day four of the Cannes Film Festival presented some fabulous fashions. Here are a few of our favorite looks that were seen on the red carpet.

For the film's red carpet premiere the actress amped up drama in this electric, tangerine, Atelier Versace embellished gown featuring a daring slit. Jada added gold jewels and sexy Jimmy Choo stilletto's to finish her dazzling look.
