London Fashion Week Spring 2013 RTW: Burberry Prorsum

This was not a typical Burberry Prorsum show.

With Burberry, the fashion world has come to expect some signature looks, including the khaki and olive-colored trench coats and the signature plaid that has defined the label for decades.

At London Fashion Week Monday, the world got an entirely new view of Burberry: bright metallics, bold colors, and nary a speck of plaid in site (excluding the walls of the venue).

While the tone of the show was largely what people have come to expect from Creative Director, Christopher Bailey (mournful music as models strutted the catwalk in trenches, trying to stave off the presumably upcoming rain showers), there were many noticeable differences.

Metallic fabrics marked many of the pieces, including the Burberry signature trench coat.  The trench itself was turned into a cropped version as well.

Models also wore cropped and full capes. They wore one and two-piece bathing suits and even a refined version of the so-called “bootie short.”

The menswear also got a make-over with models wearing bright blues and pinks with trousers.

The show ended with models coming out, a handful of each wearing the classic trench updated in the bright color palette of the show.

Bailey also kept the styling simple, opting to have many of the models keep their hair under the coats.

Overall, it was a large departure and a welcome surprise at the same time.

Supermodels are Golden for the Olympics Closing Ceremony

If you were watching the closing ceremony for the Olympics last night you saw these gorgeous familiar faces strut their stuff on the Olympic stage. The closing ceremony theme was all about British culture including music and fashion! Hearing from great groups and entertainers like One Direction, Take That, part of Oasis, Fatboy Slim and The Spice Girls. We were dancing and singing all night long reflecting on days gone by and the era of the 90s.

The supermodels looked so glamorous in gold celebrating Team GB's 29-gold medals earned over the 17 days the games took place.

Here's a wrap up of what the models wore from left to right:

Lily Cole shimmered in a gold embroidered, lace Erdem cocktail dress paired with gold Charlotte Olympia ankle-strap pumps.

Stella Tennant rocked a Christopher Kane metal mesh and Swarovski crystal pant suit.

Karen Elson donned a gold-lace Burberry evening gown featuring a center split. She added Jimmy Choo gold sandals to complete her look.

Kate Moss was breathtaking in an Alexander McQueen gold-sequined full-length gown with a daring plunging neckline.

Lily Donaldson wore a Vivienne Westwood gold, embroidered gown featuring a baroque pattern detailing.

Naomi Campbell was as fierce as ever in an Alexander McQueen gold metal, embroidered dress with a flowing shimmering train and Alexander McQueen wedges.

Georgia May Jagger wore a gold-metal Victoria Beckham cocktail dress and accessorized with Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

Jourdan Dunn sported a gold and white Jonathan Saunders leather dress and a fabulous Stephen Jones gold-feather headdress.

David Gandy looked like a golden God in a sleek, gold Paul Smith suit.

Three Celebrity Looks We Love~

Last week showcased a plethora of amazing designer fashions from events like the MTV Movie Awards, CMT Music Awards, the Rock of Ages red carpet premiere and, of course, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. We couldn't wait to see what The Duchess of Cambridge would wear for the four day celebration, and she did not disappoint. Besides Charlize Theron looking smoking hot in the red, Lanvin mini and Malin Ackerman showing some skin in her sleek, and rock and roll appropriate Reem Acra gown, we found three other looks we just had to talk about and the reasons why you should too.

Catherine Middleton- The Duchess of Cambridge attended  services at St. Paul's Cathedral for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in this slim-fitting, lace, nude Alexander McQueen sheath. She completed her look with her beloved nude L.K. Bennett pumps, a Jane Taylor floral accented hat, pearl drop earrings and a Prada clutch.

Why we love it: Catherine mixes her high-street fashion with designer brands so elegantly and the fact that she recycles her favorite accessories is a plus in our book.

Kristen Bell-  Kristen hit the red carpet in Nashville for the CMT Awards in this shimmering, gold Reem Acra gown featuring sequined embellishments. She teamed her stunning look with rose gold Graziela earrings and a metallic Judith Leiber clutch.

Why we love it: This dazzling gown elongates the petite actress' frame making her appear taller than her actual height of only 5' 1".

Jennifer Aniston - Jennifer celebrated her friend and actress Shirley McClaine's AFI LifeAchivement Award in this sensational, white, Burberry gown featuring a daring thigh-high slit. The actress teamed her look with a studded Valentino clutch and Tabitha Simmons snakeskin, strappy heels.

Why we love it: Jennifer ditched her usual, albeit always fabulous, signature LBD look for an elegant, floor-sweeping gown and made a fashion statement with edgy accessories putting a modern spin on a classic look.
