Mixed Separates Monday: Brocade Beauties

In the mood for adding some luxe items into your fall wardrobe? Baroque-inspired pieces are just the way to accomplish that goal. Brocade prints are richly decorative woven fabrics, often made in various silks coupled with the use of gold and silver threads.

Designers like Jason Wu, Dolce & Gabbana and Balmain all captivated the runways with their Baroque-inspired collections for Fall 2012. These collections mixed shimmering, satin jackets with opulent, printed pants and eye-catching velvet pieces. I personally loved the way that Dolce & Gabbana combined brocade prints with lace details on cocktail dresses and corsets creating the most elegant ensembles.

Here are a few of my favorite Baroque inspired picks for the season. What do you think of these picks? Have you added any Baroque pieces to your fall wardrobes?

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 RTW: Elizabeth and James

The Spring 2013 RTW collection for Elizabeth & James is filled with relaxed, cool pieces perfect for the stylish lazy girl's wardrobe. Never has pajama style dressing looked so inviting. Ensembles featuring loose fitting trousers paired with tailored jackets featuring strong shoulders are divine.

Inspired by images of sunsets and sunrises around the world, designers Mary-Kate and Ashely Olsen showcased a color palette of gorgeous, enchanting hues of copper, pink, purple and gold in addition to a strong showing of black and white.

Shiny finishes and jacquard prints give the collection an effortlessly luxe feel. A key look from the range is the orchid colored, jacquard print, single-button jacket coupled with the slim-fitting, cropped orchid pants.

Looks were styled with flat metallic sandals, ornate tribal earrings, wooden bangles and cat-eye sunglasses which added to the exotic sophistication of the collection.

Celebrities such as Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Cameron Diaz, Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale and Elizabeth Olsen should all be contemplating these pieces for their spring and summer wardrobes.

Denim Trends for Fall 2012

Colored denim, spring and summer's hottest trend is carrying over into fall wardrobes. Popping up everywhere in splashes of blue, burgundy, bright red and earth tones like moss green, clay and rust. Celebrities like Sophia Bush and Kate Middleton are already transitioning their ensembles to autumn hues.

What other styles of denim are popular for the impending fall season?

Everything old is new again this season with denim. From patterned to coated, slouchy to distressed, here is a rundown of the upcoming denim trends for the fall/winter 2012 season.

Cropped Denim: Yup, we are back to this trend again. Best worn with statement making heels or sky-high platforms. Roll them, cuff them or buy them at ankle length; this trend is back in full force!

Boyfriend Denim: The slouchy, borrowed from the boys style, a popular favorite from the 1990s is back with an updated twist. There is something about this cool relaxed fit with an edgy feel that we love. Gentle rips and distressed details give this trend a slight edge. Pair with your favorite sweater or a feminine top to give it a girly sweet jolt.

Printed/Patterned Denim: Take your colored denim up a notch, if you dare. Floral denim was in full bloom for spring and summer and the trend is transitioning to fall in forms of animal print, baroque and graphic print patterns. Maximize this look by pairing with a single color and minimal jewels to keep it from being too loud.

Coated/Waxed Denim: This unique treatment resembles that of leather and it's sexy and fashion forward. Metallic hues and neutral hues are popular for fall. Pair with an embellished tank and cropped jacket or an open weave sweater and boots for a sensational look.
