Editor's Pick~ Melting Tights by URB Clothing

On one hand, I think these Melting Tights by URB Clothing are pretty fantastic and man do I wish I had a pair when I was in Junior High in the 1980's. On the other hand, I cannot help but think, it seems as if one might have just peed glitter down their legs?

I think that if you like to shock people with your fashion these are an accessory must have for your wardrobe! I can see Ice Skaters or Roller Derby girls wearing these as a bold and flashy part of their uniforms. If anything the color combinations are quite innovative and totally fierce. The rubbery texture of the melting effect is so realistic.

Select from hues like baby blue, bubblegum pink, neon green or turquoise for colorful looks. Edgier fashionista 's will opt for black, black and white combo or even glitter melting tight designs.

The tights start at $50.00 and vary with selected styles.

What do you think of these fun tights? Will you be picking up a pair today?

Animal Prints-It’s a Jungle Out There

What is it about animal print that makes it so glam despite the less than fashionable thinking that associates it with the tacky side of style?

First of all, it’s fun and it is just downright glamorous. There is an old Hollywood film star feel to animal prints. Marilyn Monroe was a fan. Others film stars like Ursula Andress, Bridgette Bardot and Catherine Deneuve made animal prints synonymous with sophisticated, seductive sex appeal through the 50s and into the 60s. Who can forget that look -- huge dark sunglasses, a leopard print head scarf while driving in a sports car in the French Riviera.

There’s also a long history of its use by the fashion elite. Christian Dior introduced us to animal prints back in 1947 with his spring/summer collection featuring a “Jungle” day dress and an exquisite silk chiffon evening gown aptly named “Afrique”. Coming after the Second World War, designers were trying to re-inject some glamour back into fashion after years of plain fabric rationed dressing and home sewing.

Animal prints are also a perfect way to add a touch of the “mad and bad” to your outfit. You don’t have to go for full on. If you’re afraid of getting too far out of your comfort zone, go from being a mouse to a tiger with just a pair of animal print shoes, a bag, gloves or a scarf.

There are some commonly held opinions on the dos and dont's of how to wear prints. I don’t agree with any of those opinions. Follow a few basic rules, and you’ll be  fine.

Combining different prints does not have to mean style disaster. It’s on-trend right now to wear more than one piece at a time. The fashion savvy to mix it up will make you stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons.

It’s not only about combining prints, it’s also about combining textures and colours. But don’t overdo it -- a faux fur leopard print coat worn with a fluffy cheetah bag and fuzzy animal print boots will make you look like an extra in The Flintstones. Instead go for a simply cut jersey or silk dress in a pale cheetah print. Toss this over with a darker leopard fur coat and accessorize with a pony skin shopper bag. Done well, you can look femme fatal yet classy, risk taking yet fun.

Whatever print you choose -- go forward, be bold and deck yourself out in the style of the urban jungle.

Nautical New Year~

For some of us, the cold winter months have us longing for the warm sun and sandy beach of the tropics. While for others, sipping an ice cold lemonade while relaxing by the pool or kicking off your heels and reading a book in Central Park on your lunch break in the afternoon sun are warm weather activities missed the most right now.

Fortunately the fashion world is heading toward warmer climates and the nautical trend is a must-have for Spring/Summer 2012. The nautical look is classic and works well in every situation. Think about the sleek and sophisticated nautical inspired Alexander McQueen ensemble Kate Middleton was seen wearing last summer. From cute boat shoes to sensational striped dresses, here are some swoon worthy fashions to help you set sail closer to warmer days.

Looks We Love~ Plaid

Plaid is one look that seems to never go out of style. It is generally thought of when it comes to preppy school girl skirts (think Gossip Girl) or kilts baring the traditional tartan. The look became an instant must-have when fashion icon Ali McGraw was seen wearing matching plaid skirts and scarves in the 1970's hit movie Love Story.

Plaid was seen on the runways at Thankoon, Betsey Johnson and of course the masters of the tartan, Burberry. Celebrities like Emma Watson, Pippa Middleton and Olivia Wilde are all mad for plaid.

Emma Watson amped up her McQ tartan minidress with studded Louboutin's and a leather jacket. Pippa Middleton makes dressing down look so chic by wearing this perfect plaid top and black stovepipe jeans.  Olivia Wilde topped her navy shirt dress with a ladylike plaid Louis Vuitton coat.

Looks We Love~ Tweed

Tweed has made a huge comeback in today's fashion. Most people attribute Coco Chanel for tweed's presence in high fashion. The designer made the fabric popular in the 1950s and 1960s, crafting beautiful jackets and suiting ensembles. Because of its heavy properties, tweed was a fabric that was mainly just worn during cold months. Today tweeds are much lighter and can be worn season to season.

Tweed was seen all over the runways thanks to designers like Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs and of course Chanel making this trend increasingly popular in fashions and accessories. Celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Rachel Bilson and Kate Bosworth all feel the need for tweed.

Cameron Diaz took her look from casual to chic by adding this Elizabeth and James tweed blazer to her Equipment romper. Rachel Bilson mixed sexy and sophisticated in this tweed Chanel sheath with daring neckline and crossover hemline. Kate Bosworth paired wedge leather booties with her Chanel tweed  mini-skirt adding a touch of edge to her ladylike look.

Celebrity Color Crush - Cobalt Blue

Seems that the red carpet is going through a bit of a blue period. Last week Twilight beauties Kristen Stewart and Ashely Greene both donned cobalt blue colored ensembles. Actress Amanda Seyfried opted for an electric blue tuxedo short H&M ensemble at the UK premiere of In Time, then in Berlin wore a cobalt, sexy cut-out Lyn Devon frock. It girl Pippa Middleton was spotted wearing blue on her way to work in London as well.

The color is even popping up in beauty palettes. Chanel created a denim inspired nail polish line for Fashion's Night Out featuring three bold colors of blue. The 80s staple, blue eye-shadow gets a modern twist as the base palette for a smokey eye. Check out how Emma Stone accented with a hint of indigo, making her eyes sparkle!

We are currently crushing on these cobalt fashion must-haves!
