H&M is announcing its autumn 2011 designer collaboration will be with one of the world's most legendary fashion brands - Versace!
The brand's creative director, Donatella Versace, says the glamorous, rock'n roll inspired collection will harken back to the vibrant heritage of the brand, full of leather, print, and color! The collection will include fashions for both men and women, as well as accessories and limited home designs including bedspreads and cushions.
The iconic brand follows in the footsteps of previous H&M collaborators Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo and most recently Lanvin.
In May of 2008, Donatella was asked if she would create a diffusion line for H&M and she said no. Donatella told the audience at a New York Times' TimesTalk series, "I respect everyone who does it," she said. "But the reason I didn't do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand."
The Versace brand is on the road to change - just last week photos for their fall ad campaign were released and instead of a blonde bombshell or a celebrity the ads featured brunette beauty Saskia de Brauwa.
Versace for H&M is due to hit around 300 stores November 17th and will also be available online. Versace will also put together a pre-spring collection to be sold online in select countries come January 19, 2012.
