2012 Emmy Awards~ Best Dressed

The 2012 Emmy Awards brought out some unforgettable and regrettable fashions. Some of the biggest names in television came out to celebrate their fellow actors in breathtaking, floor-sweeping and sexy ensembles. There were so many fabulous frocks it was hard to narrow it down to only five spectacular best dressed celebrities.

A few standouts included 30 Rock star, Tina Fey in a strapless, burgundy Vivienne Westwood curve-hugging gown. This is probably the best the funny lady has looked to date. Winner for Lead Actress in a Drama for her role in Homeland, Claire Danes looked radiant in a strapless, marigold Lanvin column gown. Another notable mention, Girls star Allison Williams in an structured, emerald green Oscar de la Renta silk faille gown with peplum details.

I never like doing worst dressed lists just because I know in Hollywood, more often than not, celebrities do not actually pick the dresses they are wearing for red carpet events, they are at the mercy of their stylists and publicists. In order for one to truly look bad on a red carpet the star in question would ultimately have put no effort at all into the look or appeared to be a hot mess such Ke$ha wearing a trash bag or Helena Bonham Carter wearing mismatched shoes picked out by a child. All others we will just call a missed opportunity.

Here are a few missteps from the Emmy's-- Nicole Kidman in Antonio Berardi, this look was blah by many accounts. To sum up -- it was forgettable. Nicole was one of the few glamorous movie stars at the Emmy Awards and she was wearing such an amazing dress, but it falls flat due to not having that "wow" factor in the styling or hair and make-up. Another celebrity I personally love on the red carpet is Mad Men star, January Jones. January wore a dramatic, black Zac Posen structured gown, everything from the neck down was impeccable, however her eye-make up was too much and her hair was unflattering.

Here are our choices for the best dressed celebrities at the 2012 Emmy Awards.

Celebrity Color Crush~ Orange

Celebrities are brightening up events, and the red carpet, with deliciously sweet citrus hues of orange this summer. Tangerine, coral and varying shades of orange have made appearances this season thanks to the color of the year: Tangerine Tango.

Last month, Marion Cotillard was spotted on the red carpet wearing a lovely and sophisticated Christian Dior Couture ensemble featuring an orange bustier at the Dark Knight Rises premiere in London. The color was not lost on accessories either, Jessica Chastain added a pair of orange Barbara Bui sling backs to her electric green Karen Caldwell sheath earlier this year.

Leslie Mann sported a fit and flare, orange Monique Lhuillier dress for the Los Angeles premiere of ParaNorman paired with nude Givenchy heels.

Summertime Blues

Seems that the red carpet is going through a bit of a blue period. Last week, Lea Michele attended the Valspar Hands for Habitat event wearing a sweet, blue Oscar de la Renta embroidered frock. The Duchess of Cambridge wore an elegant blue Stella McCartney sheath to the Road to 2012: Aiming High Exhibition. Last night, Zooey Deschanel attended the Teen Choice Awards in a cobalt-blue Monique Lhuillier sleeveless dress.

When selecting a blue dress opt for clean lines and easy fabrics. Have fun with your accessories too -- you don't necessarily have to stick to black. Silver or even a pop of color, like shades of yellow, orange and even pink, work well with blues.

Resort 2013~ 8 Looks We Love

Designers have been turning out their 2013 Resort Collections over the past couple of weeks. First, it was Chanel with their punk rock garden party in Versailles during the Cannes Film Festival. Now we are seeing glamorous gowns, sensational day dresses and chic, tailored separates ready to make their way into closets everywhere. Black and red seemed to be used in abundance in the varying collections. Collections for 2013 are filled with light, airy fabrics like chiffon and beautiful lace and embroidery details.

The resort collection is becoming one of our favorites and we had to share eight of our favorite looks we've seen so far from designers like J. Mendel, Giambattista Valli and Jason Wu.
