Nicole Kidman has been confirmed as a jury member for this year's Cannes Film Festival. Last year, Cannes jury member Diane Kruger showcased a plethora of gorgeous gowns and stylish frocks on the red carpet in the French Rivera. I just know that Nicole will do the same. She has outstanding fashion sense and is the epitome of elegance.
Kidman tends to favor slim-fitting silhouettes that dazzle with sparkle or have some sort of wow factor that makes a statement in the most stunning way - I am thinking specifically of the halter-neck studded Versace gown she wore to the 2012 Golden Globes and the embellished floral Vivienne Westwood column gown she wore to this year's SAG Awards.
Nicole loves designers such as Prada, Balenciaga, Dior, Nina Ricci and L'Wren Scott. She has worn so many looks from L'Wren Scott recently, (the Oscars and event galas) I can't imagine there is anything left for Cannes. Whatever looks she selects, there is no doubt they will be both sexy and glamorous.
Here are a few gowns that I think Nicole should wear on this year's Cannes red carpet.
I said it once, and I am saying it again, Nicole needs to wear this red short-sleeved Elie Saab Couture column dress with an embellished bodice. I just love how she looks wearing red, and with her hair swept up in loose curls or an elegant bun this would be a knockout look.
For the opening ceremony of Cannes, I would love to see Nicole opt for a glamorous ballgown. I know that this not her preferred style, but this floor-sweeping Valentino Haute Couture strapless gown with embellished gold and floral details would make a dramatic statement. Don't you agree?
Another possible figure-flattering look for the Australian beauty would be this sleeveless black and white, velvet Reem Acra column gown with dazzling embroidered details. There are actually five or six gowns I could see Nicole wearing from Acra's Spring 2013 collection, but this one I think has the best chance.
Zuhair Murad has become one of my must see designers on the red carpet. In this sultry single-shoulder, midnight navy gown with sheer embellished details on the bodice Nicole would undoubtedly make heads turn.
For a few of the less formal events, Nina Ricci has the best selection of elegant ladylike frocks for Nicole to choose from. With the mostly red, white and black color palette from Ricci's Fall 2013 collection, it would be easy to see the multi-talented actress any any number of the looks. I adore this LBD from the designer, something about silhouette reminds me of Grace Kelly. Which is fitting for Kidman, as she is portraying the Princess in the upcoming film Grace of Monaco.
This curve-hugging dove grey Marchesa trumpet gown would be a long shot look for Nicole to wear, but I think the color and silhouette would look quite fabulous on her gorgeous frame.
Which of these looks do you think Nicole will most likely wear on Cannes red carpet? Are there any specific dresses or designers you'd like to see her in?
