Collections to Covet: Tata Naka F/W 2013

If Eric Damen is looking for more 1980's fashion inspiration to style the characters of The Carrie Diaries, he can turn to the shapely silhouettes and pastel hues featured in Tata Naka's F/W 2013 collection. Designing duo and twin sisters, Tamara and Natasha Surguladze have introduced a range of stylish ensembles comprised of over-sized tweeds and vibrant prints, that look as if they were plucked straight from Lisa Frank folders or the artwork of Picasso.

The Pretty Hearts Off-Shoulder Bow Dress reminds me a bit of Molly Ringwald's prom dress she made in the movie Pretty In Pink.

What do you think of the collection? If you want to add some of these pieces to your fall wardrobe visit the Tata Naka trunkshow via Moda Operandi going on now through April 4th, 2013.

Kate Mara in Peter Som at the House of Cards Washington DC Premiere

Kate Mara attended the Washington D.C. premiere of House of Cards in this girly sweet, mint green Peter Som frock adorned with floral appliques.

She accessorized her look with champagne colored Brian Atwood satin peep-toes and a colorful Judith Leiber clutch.

A soft-swept classic bun and nude lip added the finishing touches to her elegant ensemble.

I love this look on Kate, she is becoming one of my red carpet favorites.

What are your thoughts? Was the purple clutch to distracting or was it the perfect compliment for a standout look?

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 RTW: Zang Toi

Zang Toi is one of the most prominent designers to come out of Malaysia. He has a way of incorporating his heritage into subtle details in all of his collections. A long time favorite of celebrities and red carpet goers, Toi's gowns are meant for those who want to be noticed and make a statement.

Often inspired by Baroque periods and over the top elegance which we saw in pieces such as his white bridal robe with layered, ruched collar, Zang Toi surprises us for 2013 with a more structured collection than we have seen in the past. The focal point for many pieces was a structured collar built into a modernized black smoking jacket. Keeping in true Toi fashion, the model would reveal the coup de gras upon her turn. Utilizing textile panels in a Baroque-feeling scarf print, the back of the jacket became a statement saying, "It's not all business." Continuing this theme, one of the Fashion Wrap Up headquarters favorite pieces was a high-low black tail coat with white embroidery on the inside of the tails. The attention to detail in this portion of the collection was enough to make any fashionista's heart beat faster.

This year the more structured pieces trumped the evening wear. Toi's evening wear dresses used carnival candy tones of light purple and pink accented by strategic rhinestone embellishments. This evening wear collection does not live up to the mastery that Toi has presented in previous years. While he walked away a winner with the unexpected twist on the classic black jacket, the touch of Toi in the evening wear line was unfortunately not there for Spring 2013. Nevertheless, we at Fashion Wrap Up love Zang Toi. Stay tuned for our exclusive, post NYFW interview with the designer and find out about his inspirations and what makes Zang Toi tick!

Spring Wishlist: Pretty Pastels~

Jill Stuart, Versace and Ralph Lauren all served up delightful stylish scoops of sorbet hues in every color of the rainbow for Spring 2012. We cannot seem to get enough of this girly sweet trend.

The key to pulling off this trend successfully is mixing separates to avoid the Easter egg look. Opt for clean lines and avoid neutrals as a base, but rather use them to accessorize. Pile on the pastels by balancing solids on solids.

Here are some pretty pastel items to add to your Spring Wishlist.

Chanel presented its 2013 Resort collection in Versailles in a lavish and romantic setting. The collection is a cross between Punk Rock Chic and French Royalty of the 18th century. Models paraded around three fountains in variety of cotton-candy colored designs accented with gold embroidery, ruffles and billowy feather plumes. Lagerfeld styled the various looks with fingerless gloves, wide brimmed hats and platform sneakers.
