Collections to Covet: For Love & Lemons About a Girl Spring 2013

I am sure many of you will not know whether to be offended by For Love & Lemons About a Girl Spring 2013 collection or to applaud them for their unconventional sartorial approach to their lookbook. The collection is filled with sheer fabrics in sugary sweet hues, romantic ruffles and flirty skirts. These bold yet feminine pieces are perfect for the girl who wants to wake up her spring/summer wardrobe while breaking all the rules of fashion to set her own trends.

The theme of the lookbook is to capture the delicate innocence and awkward substance of 1970's teen angst. Goal achieved! Model Ashley Smith rocks some dreamy ensembles in fun and rebellious ways. The photographs capture and invoke that feeling of nostalgia without giving the cheap vibe or look of a modern day promotional model. You know what I am talking about, because you've all seen those pictures.

Here are a few of my favorite looks from the For Love & Lemons Spring 2013 collection:

Paris Fashion Week RTW ~ John Galliano

John Galliano proves that he can stand alone as a designer with his Fall 2012 RTW collection for Paris Fashion week. Thigh-high stockings, furs, asymmetric hemlines and oversized hats wove throughout the eclectic collection. Muted earth tones comprised the color palette which was anything but bland. Mid-calf parachute pants paired with fur-trimmed jackets and platform boots formed one ensemble while ruffled blouses with feathered hats made up the next.

Long flowing dresses with see-through fabrics showed the collection's feminine yet risqué side. Masculine cut jackets were a staple of the collection, with necktied blouses and obvious buttons.

The models wore jagged, harsh hairstyles and smoky eye make-up. No jewelry of any kind was featured in the collection.

John Galliano combined masculine and feminine in a unique collection with cutting edge street appeal.

London Fashion Week RTW ~ Antonio Berardi

Bold colors, jagged hemlines and ruffles marked the Antonio Berardi Fall 2012 runway show. Void of any mixed prints, the collection featured stark solids including teal, crimson, black and white. Layered ruffles paired with form fitting bodices and created feminine, hourglass physiques.

Berardi combined intricate detailing, in beadwork and lace, with solid color in a Yin-Yang effect. The S-shaped swirl was commonly featured in the dresses and jackets of the collection. Also featured were ruffles at the hips, sometimes only on the right side of the garment for added flair.

The models wore blunt cut bob hairstyles with severe straight-across bangs. The shoes were lace up stilettos in teal or black, with variations of a feathered front plate.
