New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 RTW: Nanette Lepore

Bright, eye-popping colors have become the trademark for American designer Nanette Lepore. Today’s show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York was no exception.

For spring, Lepore led us on a journey through what could be described as a Saturday afternoon in the Hamptons.

Many looks were comprised of clashing prints, a growing theme among designs across the globe. Fashionistas were treated to earthy prints on top and a simple black gingham on the bottom of several of the separates.

Lepore’s intricately-designed swimwear also turned heads today. She offered one and two-piece options that could be flattering on a variety of body types and could easily work with the other pieces in this collection (including black and white crochet-style cover dresses).

Overall, the collection led us on a stroll through Southhampton, then onto Cooper’s Beach for some sun (and maybe a spot of gossip), and then over to East Hampton to eat at Nick and Tony’s.

Making Waves at WWD Magic~

Last week in Las Vegas, temperatures reached a high of 114 degrees. Individuals attending WWD Magic had a chance to beat the heat Tuesday night at the Rumor Boutique Resort during “Fashion Splash.” The event, sponsored by American Express, Corona, and ISAM and INVISTA, and produced by The Gallery LA, provided guests with a preview of next season’s hottest swimwear pieces.

The event kicked off with a performance by American Idol Season 9 finalist Ashley Rodriguez. She captivated the audience with her sultry voice and commanding stage presence. The runway show commenced shortly after and featured designs by Modern Amusement, True Religion, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and Trina Turk. My personal favorite was the pink asymmetrical one-piece by Beach Joy Bikini! Once the show concluded, guests were able to mingle with designers and other brand representatives.
