White House Black Market

Inauguration Inspiration

On January 20th, 2013, America’s eyes will be on Washington, D.C. for President Obama’s Inauguration in to his second term. Michelle Obama, the First Lady, will be watched with eager anticipation from fashion bloggers, editors and her adoring fans. The First Lady is touted as one of the most fashionable occupants of the White House since the infamous Jackie O.

Spotted once in a White House | Black Market dress, Michelle Obama has inspired the retailer to introduce a limited edition collection, “From Our White House to Yours.” The collection will consist of nine dresses to complete your closet with classy cocktail to long and elegant beaded gowns. The dresses will be marketed between $250-$300.

If you want to get your hands on one of the pieces inspired by Mrs. Obama, be prepared on January 10th to quickly log on to the retailers website, or make a personal shopping appointment at one of four boutique locations. The limited edition designs will be available at The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, Tyson’s Corner, Wisconsin Place, and Westfield Montgomery. All four of these boutiques are located within Washington DC and will be hosting special personal shopping events with in-store stylists.

Mixed Separates Monday: Plum Perfection

Various shades of purple are always a popular pick for fall fashion and designer's collections are always packed full of the romantic and bold shade. One of my favorite hues of purple is plum, because of its ability to serve as both a warm and cool color. This ultimately depends on how much of the red and blue tones are mixed into the color palette to create the shade. The See by Chloe sweater, featured below is a cooler shade of plum, while the White House|Black Market Plum Corduroy Jacket is a warmer shade of the rich color.

What do you think of the color plum? Have you added any plum pieces to your fall wardrobe?  Do you prefer to wear plum with more blue tones or red?

White House Black Market Battles It Out with Ego's for Fall 2012

Supermodel Coco Rocha takes center stage for White House Black Market's Fall 2012 campaign in both print and television formats. The ad set is entitled 'AlterEgo,' and features multi-talented Rocha performing a carefully choreographed dance routine. As this ad sets to demonstrate, being a world class model means you must be able to do more than strike a pose for a camera.

Rocha perfected her set with the help of legendary Broadway choreographer, Laurin Latarro. Within a 30 second television set, around 12 different full body ensembles are featured. Rocha quickly steps into the role of a quick change artist. Will we see her on any upcoming Dancing With The Stars seasons?

While this may seem mundane and played out lately, thanks to Lady Gaga, Nikki Minaj and anyone else in the celebrity stratosphere claiming alter egos, the surprise reveal takes this show to the next level.

Photographer Glen Luchford is responsible for the print and marketing images. These are shot on set with the TV spot, incorporating fluidity and cohesiveness to television sets with a dance theme.

I know we can't wait to see your responses to the big reveal. While we would love for you to do the twist, our alter ego's won't let us!
