Fashion Wrap Up's Fashion team answers YOUR questions!
Darcy Stephens asks: I have a pair of grey, pleated, capri pants that hit about mid-calf. Are they too casual for a business meeting? The attire is business casual, but they've asked the men to wear ties. The meeting is in Atlanta, so dressing for comfort in that humid and hot weather is a must. Also, if I can pull off wearing those, what shoes would be best? Right now I'm thinking I'll wear this outfit on a non-customer meeting day, but I want to know how (if possible) I could pull off something appropriate for the other meetings.
The Fashion Team says: Most style experts say that wearing mid-calf capri pants are a no no. The reason is that no matter what body type you are they give you a weird leg length. However, in some cases fashion rules are meant to be broken. We've seen plenty of looks with our own eyes, where this very theory has been disproved.
We say you can definitely wear a pair of capri pants to a business meeting. Business casual attire means different things to different companies these days. As long as you stick to the basic rules you can never go wrong. Navy, black and grey are always acceptable color palettes for business attire. Pair your capri pants with a neutral colored blouse, avoid clingy fabric or loud patterns. Top your look with a fitted or tailored blazer. Do not overdo your accessories -- minimal is always best in this situation. Depending on your company's footwear policy, an open-toed low heel or sandal would be completely appropriate.
This look that Raven Symoné wore to the Teen Choice Awards is completely business casual appropriate.
